SUMMER CAMP REGISTRATION OPENS TUESDAY, MARCH 4
Participants will have the opportunity to hang out with peers, spend time outdoors, participate in group activities, swim, and go on two exciting field trips per week in a safe, supervised environment.
Field Trips: Field Trips are subject to change based on weather, availability, etc. Field Trip information will be shared as it becomes available.
Location: 195 Grier Road (Newhoca Lodge)
Ages: 13-15 by the start of the session
Camp Hours: 8:00am to 3:00pm, Tuesday - Thursday
Extended PM: The Extended PM program runs until 6:00pm. You must pre-register for Extended PM as a separate activity for each session after-care is needed
Registration & Payment:
Registering by May 18: Balance may be paid in full, or a 50% deposit may be made to hold a spot. All remaining balances are due in full by Sunday, June 1. Registrations with unpaid balances after this date will be cancelled and the deposit applied as a credit on your MyRec account.
Registering after May 18: Full balance is due at the time of registration. No spots are held without payment.
If you are interested in applying for a camp scholarship, please contact the Vernon Social Services Department beginning February 18th at (860) 870-3661 to set up an appointment for eligibility screening. Securing a scholarship does not hold a spot in the camp program; registration & payment must still be completed through the Vernon Parks & Recreation Office
Pack List: Water bottle, non-refrigerated lunch, snack, swimsuit, towel, sunscreen, sneakers, change of clothes
PLEASE NOTE:
If your participant is attending the Vernon Summer Learning Program through Vernon Public Schools, hours may conflict with scheduled field trips
All programs must meet minimum enrollment and staffing requirements to run
General Notes
- Drop off & pick at Newhoca Lodge.
- On field trip days, campers must arrive on time for departure. Campers that arrive late and miss the field trip bus will not be allowed to remain at camp for that day and no refunds will be granted for the day.
- Any adult signing a camper out of the program must be listed on the camper's Authorized Pickup List and show a valid Photo ID upon request.
- Campers will be given a swim test by the Lifeguards on the first day of each session to determine the areas of the lake they are able to safely swim in. Re-tests can be requested at the beginning of a new session.
- All registrations are due by 12pm on the Wednesday before a session begins if space is available
- Free Lunches may be available through the Summer Meals Program. More information will be shared about this program if/when it becomes available for 2025.
