SUMMER CAMP REGISTRATION OPENS MONDAY, MARCH 4
Camp Newhoca is located in the woods on the shore of Middle Bolton Lake. Facilities include an arts & crafts cabin, game room, office, air conditioned lodge, and the pavilion. Activities during a typical camp day may include swimming in the lake, boating, arts & crafts, playing basketball and volleyball, hiking, sports, group games, and theme days.
Special Events: (all special events are weather permitting and may be cancelled due to inclement weather)
Overnight Camp-out: Open to 7th and 8th grade campers only
July 18-19 & August 1-2
Registration will be offered the weeks of the camp-outs. The fee for each Overnight Camp-out is $40/participant, payable the week of the event
Stay-Late Night: Open to 5th and 6th grade campers only
Come to camp from 6pm - 8pm to enjoy evening activities, including a cookout, before going home for the night
July 25th
Registration will be offered the week of the Stay-Late. The fee for the Stay-Late is $15/participant, payable the week of the event
Location: 195 Grier Road
Grades: Entering grades 1-8 for the '24-'25 school year.
Camp Hours: 8:00am to 3:30pm. Drop-off is between 8:00am - 9:00am.
Extended PM: Extended PM is held at Camp Newhoca and runs until 6:00pm. You MUST pre-register for Extended PM as a separate activity for each session.
Payment Options:
Registering on or before May 19: Balance may be paid in full, or a 50% deposit may be made to hold a spot. All remaining balances are due in full by Sunday, June 2nd or your registration will be cancelled
Registering after May 19: Full balance is due at the time of registration. No spots are held without payment.
If you are interested in applying for a camp scholarship, please contact the Vernon Social Services Department beginning February 20th at (860) 870-3661 to set up an appointment for eligibility screening. Securing a scholarship does not automatically hold a spot in the camp program; registration & payment must still be completed through the Vernon Parks & Recreation Office.
PLEASE NOTE:
*When registering, please make sure your child's grade is listed as what they are currently in right now. The computer will automatically progress their grade July 1. Session 1 reflects the grade they are in currently, Sessions 2-7 show the grade for the upcoming school year.
*There is no camp on Thursday, July 4 & Friday, July 5
General Notes
- Things to bring: snacks, water, non-refrigerated lunch (optional), sunscreen, swimsuit, towel, extra clothes, sneakers
- Location is 195 Grier Road. Enter the Lodge parking lot and proceed to the Pavilion for drop off/pick up.
- Drop-off is between 8am - 9am. Pickup is promptly by 3:30pm
- Photo ID is required to sign out your child.
- Campers will be given a swim test by the Lifeguards on the first day of each session to determine the areas of the lake they are able to safely swim in.
- Free breakfast and lunch will be available to campers daily through the Free Summer Meals program
- **ALL REGISTRATIONS ARE DUE BY 12pm ON THE WEDNESDAY BEFORE A SESSION BEGINS IF SPACE IS AVAILABLE**
- Spots will NOT be held without payment.
