Registration Opens Tuesday, March 3
Camp Newhoca is located in the woods on the shore of Middle Bolton Lake. Facilities include an arts & crafts cabin, game room, office, air conditioned lodge, and the pavilion. Activities during a typical camp day may include swimming in the lake, boating, arts & crafts, playing basketball, volleyball, and gaga ball, hiking, sports, group games, and theme days.

Grades: Entering grades 1-8 for the '26-'27 school year
When registering, your child's grade should reflect their current (Spring 2026) school grade. MyRec will automatically progress grades on July 1. Session 1 reflects the grade they are in currently; Sessions 2-7 reflect the grade for the upcoming school year.
Camp Hours: 8:00am to 3:00pm.
Drop-off is between 8:00am - 9:00am; Pick-up at 3:00pm
Extended PM: The Extended PM program runs until 6:00pm. You must pre-register for Extended PM as a separate activity for each session after-care is needed. To register for an Extended PM session, you must have a completed (non-Wait List) registration for the corresponding session.
Registration & Payment:
Registering on or before May 17: Balance may be paid in full, or a 50% deposit may be made to hold a spot. All remaining balances are due in full by Sunday, May 31. Registrations with unpaid balances after this date will be cancelled and the deposit applied as a credit on your MyRec account.
Registering after May 17: Full balance is due at the time of registration. No spots are held without payment.
If you are interested in applying for a camp scholarship, please contact the Vernon Social Services Department beginning February 16th at (860) 870-3661 to set up an appointment for eligibility screening. Campers must be Vernon residents to apply. Securing a scholarship does not hold a spot in the camp program; registration & payment must still be completed through the Vernon Parks & Recreation Office. If an overpayment is made with registration, a credit will be applied to your Parks & Recreation account once the scholarship discount is processed.
Pack List: Water bottle, non-refrigerated lunch, snack, swimsuit, towel, sunscreen, sneakers, change of clothes
All programs must meet minimum enrollment and staffing requirements to run
General Notes
- Drop off & pick at the Pavilion, via the Newhoca Lodge parking lot. Drop-off is between 8am - 9am. Pickup is promptly by 3:00pm
- Any adult signing a camper out of the program must be listed on the camper's Authorized Pickup List and show a valid Photo ID upon request.
- Campers will be given a swim test by the Lifeguards on the first day of each session to determine the areas of the lake they are able to safely swim in. Re-tests can be requested at the beginning of a new session.
- Campers are grouped based on grades. Groups are assigned based on the best interest of the full camp program, and group requests are not guaranteed.
- All registrations are due by 12pm on the Wednesday before a session begins if space is available
- Free Lunches may be available through the Summer Meals Program. More information will be shared about this program if/when it becomes available for 2026.
